Your NC Society of Cytology Board has been working hard in preparations for what we had hoped would be a 2018 NCSC Meeting on February 23-24, 2018. As a result of some exciting news, we have decided to postpone our 2018 meeting.
In October, the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC) contacted the NCSC to inquire about North Carolina being a host site for the 2018 Advanced Cytolopathology Education (ACE) program. The ACE is a 2-day annual event sponsored by the ASC and ASCP designed to assist Cytotechnologists in developing new skills to meet the latest advances and challenges in their cytopathology practice. Last year, the event was held at New York Presbyterian/Columbia Medical Center in New York and covered several interesting topics to include, quality and leadership, the evolving role of the cytotechnologist, morphological review, molecular testing, and triage techniques. Given the changing landscape of our profession and our desire to bring innovative programs to our members, we feel this is an awesome opportunity. Our desire is to combine the 2018 NCSC Meeting with the ACE meeting in NC.
The NCSC Board is still in communication with the ASC regarding potential dates and planning. We hope to have a date and details worked out very soon. We will provide an update to our members once we have additional information to share.
